At a gathering held at the Special Care Nursery at Grampians Health Ballarat in May the 2025 recipients of the Leckie Family Special Care Nursing Scholarships met with members of the Coates Trust and Neil Leckie, the sponsor of these important awards. The scholarships, each valued at $2,500, were awarded to Brooke Croton, Jessica Bray, Letisha Guy and Tracey Calleija, all staff members in the Special Care Nursery at Grampians Health Ballarat.
The awardees are studying for either the Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma of Health - Neonatal Care. The Leckie Family scholarships are in their fourth year and are helping nurses in the Nursery gain additional skills in the care of sick, low birth weight and/or premature babies born after 32 weeks. In years past, babies with special care needs had to be sent to Melbourne, with the pressure and problems this presented for regionally based families.

The Coates Trust wishes all the 2025 Leckie Scholarship recipients best wishes with their studies and future careers in nursing.
